The lure of the stage… the one place where you can experience the full range of human emotions in little more than a couple of hours. From love fulfilled to living a fantasy. Yes, the stage. Whether performed by a middle school, high school or local
theater group, Video Ventures provides memorable multi-camera coverage of these plays and musicals on DVD or Blu-ray disk for you to enjoy for years to come.
Our Approach
The director, actors, musicians and stage crew all work extraordinarily hard to bring theatergoers an experience they won’t soon forget. With the kind dedication they put forth, the approach we at Video Ventures take in shooting these events is simple. We strive to make sure that the full impact of that theatrical experience can be relived time and time again on DVD (SD) or Blu-ray (HD) disk.
What We Do
It’s almost impossible for a video crew to simply “show up” just prior to a show’s opening performance and do a credible job. We do things a little differently. We “learn” the show by attending as many rehearsals as possible before shooting. The best possible camera positions are scoped out well before the opening performance. All microphone placements and soundboard feeds are tested and monitored to assure that the highest quality audio possible is captured. And test video is shot to check camera settings. Whether the show is to be shot once, twice or more times and calls for two-camera or three-camera coverage, we apply these same pre-shoot steps to every production. Finally, from lights up in Act I through the close of the curtain at the end, all camera operators are able to communicate with one another so that crucial entrances are caught and the best-shot angles are covered.
Once back in the video edit suite, all show tapes are carefully screened. And, in the case of multiple show shoots, a decision is made on which show will become the “base” show for editing purposes. Using our computer’s multi-cam editing feature,
the base show typically constitutes 70% or more of the final program. Footage from alternate show tapes is seamlessly integrated where needed. And, if desired, a pre-production DVD can be made available for a screening to cast and crew.
Production DVDs and Blu-ray disks are delivered in protective jackets with full-color, Hollywood-style jacket inserts.
